Classics

A major in Classics consists of 100 points in total (25 points at level one, 37.5 points at level two, 37.5 points at level three) with capstone subject in the final year. The major must comprise a minimum of 62.5 points of Ancient Greek and/or Latin subjects, and may include a maximum of 37.5 points taken from the Ancient World Studies program.
Students must also complete the Level Three capstone subject as part of their 100 point major.

Classics: Beginners Latin Stream: Level 1

Students completing a major in the Classics Beginners Latin Stream must undertake 25 points of Latin at Level 1.

Classics: Beginners Latin Stream: Level 2/3

Students completing a major in the Classics Beginners Latin Stream must undertake:

  • both Intermediate Latin language subjects;
  • at least 1 of the remaining subjects offered at Level 2/3; and
  • the Capstone Subject.

Classics: Capstone Subject

The Capstone Subject "The Ancient World" is a compulsory level 3 subject for all students undertaking a classics major regardless of stream. Details of the capstone Subject should be available in 2008. Students undertaking a minor or breadth studies in Classics are not permitted to undertake the capstone subject.
